ooc. Since I accidentally deleted the roleplay thread, we're gonna start fresh. Please roleplay in a way that hints you have already been accepted into the pack. Thank you.

Running on the Beach Empty
PostSubject: Re: Running on the Beach   Running on the Beach Icon_minitimeSun Jun 12, 2011 8:02 am

Selwyn lifted his paw, shaking the sand from his pads distastefully. Selwyn had never been one for sand, or even sandy dirt. Thus beaches were not his idea of a good place to spend time. The sand buried under his fur, making his pelt itch. He stood irritably, shaking out his pelt. He looked around the beach area, spying a group of boulders. He padded and with a smooth bound, leapt onto one of the flatter boulders. He settled himself down, smiling with satisfation as his belly rested on the sun-warmed rock. He looked around the general area. He didnt see any of his new pack members and wondered where they were.

His tail hung down off the rock, flicking back and forth. He hadnt yet made up his mind on this pack. They werent bad, but they werent family either. Quite a few times, he had debated about going back to his birth pack. In the end, it just wasn't right. He couldnt return alone without Socah. A frown pulled at the edges of Selwyn's lips. He hated water. Thus he hated beaches. And here he was on an island, surrounded by water. Selwyn, in short, was not happy at all. Everywhere he went, he could hear the sounds of the waves hitting the beach. They filled his waking mind, dredging up images of Socah's broken body.

ooc. Posted an image up. Is that enough foliage to keep you off the beach Selwyn? Razz

Mahina raised a paw off the rock she stood on, dipping it into the water below her. Her reflection was distorted by the ripples, and the female couldn't help but laugh at how funny the image of her now looked. Her tail wagged joyfully as she lay herself on the rock, her hazel gaze watching the minnows in the fresh water pool below her.

When a joyful tweet hit her ears, the female took her eyes off the fish. A blue bird landed next to the female, placing his blue head under her chin. Mahina smiled as the bird climbed onto her shoulders, and perched himself there.

Mahina exchanged breaths with the bird, scanning the beach with him. When she spotted Selwyn, the female jumped up, padding over to the male, the bird still perched on her back.

Standing next to the rock, Mahina tilted her head at Selwyn. "Don't like the water I take it?"

(just a tip, you might want to resize the photo because it's stretching the boards)

Selwyn looked sharply to Mahina. He had seen her, casually perched on a rock and dabbing a paw in the water. Selwyn shook his head, a mixture of disgust and loathing in his eyes. It wasnt for Mahina - he didnt know her well enough for loathing. But he knew the water, he knew it all too well. Their relationship was personal, too close for comfort. Selwyn had been lying down, but suddenly even the ten foot distance between himself and the lapping waves was too short. He stood, his tail lashing as he looked between Mahina and the water. She looked so comfortable, the bird on her back, a smile on her face.

Selwyn looked to Mahina, his face guarded and neutral as he spoke. "I find it utterly abhorrent." His words were sophisticated, as they always were. He didnt quite turn away from Mahina, but he wasn't facing her either. He hopped off the pile of boulders, landing with a soft thud. He glanced over his shoulder at Mahina before padding deeper into the sparse foilage and away from the water. He wanted to surround himself in the scent of the forest, the silence. Drown out those lapping waves.

Torin bounced along the beach happily, the sand sparkling beneath him in a way that just begged him to kick it up. His paws skidded against the gravely feel of the sand beneath him. A puppy like manner coming to his body he flew past Mahina and Selwyn laughing as he did but stopped abruptly as a large sparkly something poked out of the ground.

Glancing around to see if any were near and padded cautiously to it before breaking into a run to get there quicker.

Kitsune perched on a rock overlooking the water. She loved water. Lakes and seas, they were beutiful. Tail wagging, Kitsune jumped off the boulder and walked around the beach, looking for someone to talk to. She was glad that she had been accepted into the pack. And as a scout!

ooc. Can you do it for me Selwyn? I don't have my computer still Razz

Mahina watched as Selwyn stalked off into the forest. The bird on her back tweeted, displaying his distaste in the male. Mahina gave a little shoulder buck to quiet the bird down. The alphess turned away, her eyes resting on the fox colored Kitsune. She bounded over, the bird clinging to her pelt for dear life. "Hello Kit!" She barked, coming to a stop in front of the female.

(Will do Mehe! Here it is: https://2img.net/h/i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz255/Kestrelflight/Stewart_Island_New_Zealand.jpg)

Selwyn didnt look back. He didnt care that no soft pawsteps followed him. He didnt even care that he would be alone again. In many ways he found that preferable. The sandy dirt of the shore began to be dotted with patches of grass, then vanished entirely. His paws brushed soft green once more, not a grain of sand in sight. Sycamores and pines towered around him, the sounds of singing birds and snuffling rodents almost drowned out the distant crash of waves. Selwyn shook himself, padding to a space under a particularily large sycamore. He circled a couple of times before lying down, resting his head on his paws.

He was happier alone, but that wasn't always true. He was happier alone than with strangers. He was happier alone than with the water as company. But he had been happiest with Socah. So this new happy, it would never be his real happy. It was just a substitute. But it was the best he had. Selwyn's ears flicked as he allowed his eyes to fall gently closed. His breathing evened as he focused on the calming melody of the forest. He was almost at peace, undisturbed.

Havoc raised his head from upon his paws, waking from his deep slumber. The brute yawned widely, eventually ending with a whine as he shook out his frame, throwing off the soft sand that has gathered on him while he rolled around in his sleep.
He rose from the earth and stretched out his form in a bowing motion, extending his front limbs forward while his plume arched over his back, his muscles tensing up briefly before giving a satisfying crack. Havoc sat up and gazed about, admiring his surroundings briefly before deciding to hunt for something to eat by the river.

ooc. Thanks Sel!

"What's up?"

Mahina gave a small shrug. "Nothing much, you?" She flicked her tail slightly when the blue bird climbed on her head. She looked up at the bird. "Your talons hurt... and look what you did to my fur." The bird looked at the ruffled fur behind him but shrugged it off. Mahina smirked and shook herself, the bird calling back down to her nape. He gave a small tweet.

"I'm not doing much either." said Kitsune, looking at the bird. "Hm, is there anything thing I could for you? I'm kinda of bored."

(no problem Mehe!)

Selwyn could hear the distant sounds of the pack engaging in day to day activities. He raised his head, considering returning to the beach. The thought passed quickly, the briefest of moments. Nothing was worth returning to the water. Selwyn loathed it, loathed this territory. He wished to move on at the soonest possible time. Until then, he would simply reside within the woods. None seemed to pay him any attention, nor did he need them to. Unlike many, he did not seek out the company and approval of others. He found approval within himself, himself and his intellectual pursuits.

Those were what he dedicated himself to, what mattered now. Socah had always been curious, often wandering to follow a foreign scent or pausing to watch birds flit from branch to branch. Selwyn had never understood the fascination his brother had with the unknown, but it had always made him smile. In Socah's absence, Selwyn had taken up that hobby. Perhaps allowing a little peice of Socah to continue on.

Torin moved around the beach the sparkly having been nothing more than a hollowed out shell. Now a new scent held his attention and had him wandering through the surrounding area his step seemed to be more of a jumping hop than a quick trot. Thoroughly distracted by the scent he did not realize the Selwyn was before him. The male reminded him of his mother, in his keep to himself personality. This of course did not stop Torin, his happy personality could melt the hardest of hearts, so he thought. "Ollo!" he called coming to a halt and briefly sad that he had to stop finding out what the scent was.

Neko stretched out on the warm sand of the beach. It filled her with the memories of her travels with her siblings. She sighed lightly, looking around. She wondered where her new pack members were, she hadn't seen them lately.
She shook her head. She didn't care really, she was used to being alone. Though she felt she should learn to trust them more. She laid her head down slowly, her muzzle touching the warmness of the beach.

Selwyn raised his head from his paws, his eyes fluttering closed slightly. He drew a deep breath, turning to the male who had spoken to him. Selwyn looked the male up and down, recognizing him as Thorn or Thor or Tarin or something. Selwyn couldnt quite remember. He wracked his memory, searching for a name. Tarfin? No that wasn't right. It began with a "T", Selwyn knew that much at least. To..Tor? Tor..in. Torin that was it. Selwyn blinked his amber eyes at Torin, dipping his head in greeting.

Ollo!

Ollo? What was that? Was it supposed to be a greeting. Selwyn couldnt entirely be sure. He tilted his head to one side. This male's manners of speaking were so vastly different from his own. Selwyn valued formality and respect. This Torin, he reminded Selwyn of a pup more than a fully grown adult male wolf. Selwyn's ears perked as he inclined his head to Torin, speaking in an evenly neutral voice. "Good Afternoon," Selwyn looked at Torin.

Torin seemed to have been following or looking for something. Selwyn's eyes flashed interest, though they remained mostly expressionless. He shifted his position slightly, making himself comfortable. "May I inquire after your apparent search?" He blinked his amber eyes evenly, tail flicking against the grass.

Torin's eyes seemed to narrow in a happy expression. Selwyn's formal greeting reminded him much of a friend he used to have, Tanner was his name, strict male Torin didn't stick around long but it had been good fun for as long as it had lasted.

His mind having wandered for a few brief seconds it took that long to let the males question sink in. "May I inquire after your apparent search?" With that being said Torin felt it was a greeting for him to spill his whole search today. He started with the rock stuck in his paw, then moved to the shiny objects he had enjoyed finding on the beach before finally coming to answer his question. "When i got bored with the shell i picked up a scent probably a rabbit but the scent trail was so jumpy that it just begged to be followed." He said happy to be able to talk.

Selwyn hadn't really been expecting that much detail. Truth be told, he wasn't interested in that much detail. You see, the logical thing when one asked a question was to give the most direct answer. A good answer would have been something such as "I found a strange scent and decided to follow." Instead, Selwyn was regaled with first something about stones and shiny things and shells and rabbits. Selwyn was not interested in that long of a story. He was a direct wolf, blatant and intellectual. The given answer, it was not what Selwyn was accustomed to.

He nodded his head anyways, attempting to look interested in what Torin had to say. Something about this and that, he nodded and mhmmmed as much as he could. It was a struggle to keep his eyes from straying from the perky talkative male. Finally though, the story ended. Selwyn felt like he was being set free from some sort of torture. He was being a bit dramatic, but he didnt care much. He cleared his throat, standing slowly and shaking pine needles from his pelt, nodding once more. "Best of luck in your, erm, quest of sorts."

(XD)

Torin smiled and bounded off, happy to have been able to talk so long. the trail was easy to pick up once more, but with no real urge to hunt Torin left it for more interesting things. There were many members of the pack he had yet to meet, he wandered if they would all be as nice and fun to talk to as Selwyn.

~Blah, different time zones are killer on me.~

Neko remained on the warm sand for quite a while before she grew quite bored. She rose to her paws and shook all the sand she could out of her pelt. She padded randomly around, wondering if any of her new pack members were around.

havoc yawned lazily before rolling onto his side and huffing quietly feeling utterly bored with nothing to do. His jaded gaze following the forms of the members of the pack before picking himself up from the earth and shaking out his pelt wondering what to do.
